Rapper 2 Chainz Wants To Run For Office, Current Mayor ‘Didn’t Know’ Who The ‘Dresser’ Singer Was

The rapper 2 Chainz has reiterated his desire to run for mayor in his hometown of College Park, Georgia. But the current mayor, who's held the position for almost 20 years, says he didn't even know who 2 Chainz was.

Jack Longino, the mayor of College Park,  told the Daily Beast': "I didn't know who he was, but I'm not a big rapper. I'm a country-western guy. I don't listen to the rap."

"[If 2 Chainz] actually lives in College Park and wants to run and signs up, we'll let the people decide," he added.

Born Tauheed Epps, 2 Chainz, 37, first toyed with the idea of running for office earlier this year, when he told XXL Magazine: "I'm supposed to be running for mayor in College Park. I got everybody wishing."

"I'm really gonna do this little mayor thing in College Park," he said. "I'm just trying to make sure I have the right qualifications."

This week, in an interview with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, 2 Chainz made it very clear that he can't wait to run.

"I am looking forward to running at the end of this year or next year," he told the newspaper on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The rapper attended Alabama State University on a basketball scholarship and reportedly received high marks while he was there, TIME reports.

The "Dresser" rapper appeared on Nancy Grace earlier this month to speak on something he strongly believes in: marijuana legalization. 2 Chainz argued with the host of the show, saying  that he believes weed should be decriminalized.

Get ready, College Parkians - you might be able to smoke that bud legally anyday now.
