Marshawn Lynch To Retire A Seahawk? Running Back Offered 'Huge Contract Extension' That May Last His Whole Career [PHOTO]

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has recently been offered a "huge contract extension" - one that could last him his entire career.

According to Bleacher Report, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com stated, "The Seattle Seahawks not only want Marshawn Lynch around next year, but they've made a significant commitment to keep him on their team, possibly, for the rest of his career. The deal is believed to include more than $10 million for Lynch in the 2015 season alone...

Lynch currently is slated to make $5 million in 2015, the final year of what originally was a four-year, $31 million deal. The Seahawks believe that Lynch, who has rushed for at least 1,200 yards in each of the past four seasons, has outplayed his contract, sources say. They want to reward him for his work."

The news of the extension comes after rumors that Seattle was considering the idea of cutting Lynch - who had a $5 million base salary in 2015 - once the season was over. In October 2014, ESPN writer Chris Mortensen wrote, "The organization has grown tired of his ways, including pulling a no-show at the White House Super Bowl ceremony, his training camp holdout and his possible contribution to locker-room distractions."

NPR adds that Lynch was fined $50,000 this season for violating the league's media policy, and has stiff-armed thousands of media members in Phoenix in the lead up to the Super Bowl.

However, it seems attitudes towards Lynch have changed. Rapoport added that Lynch is likely being brought back "mainly because he actually has outperformed his contract and clearly established himself as the identity of this team...

Basically, they don't have a choice based on the way he plays to bring him back. He's the heart and soul of their team, which they recognize, and they want him to retire a 'Hawk."
