UAE Condemns ISIS Following Brutal Death Of Jordanian Pilot, Rejoins Airstrikes In Solidarity Against Terrorism [PHOTO]

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently confirmed that it will be rejoining U.S. -led airstrikes against the Islamic State following the brutal execution of Jordanian pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh. In a video released online last week, Kaseasbeh was shown being burned alive, causing the emirate to "reaffirm [its] unwavering and constant solidarity with Jordan."

According to Fox News, the UAE stopped flying airstrikes over Iraq soon after Kaseasbeh's plane was shot down during a mission over Syria. NPR reports that this occurred due to concerns that there was an inadequate search-and-rescue infrastructure in place in the region to recover downed pilots.

However, Kaseasbeh's death has resulted in the further condemnation of ISIS across the world, including the Muslim community.  According to a news release by WAM, Emirates News Agency, the UAE feels it must stop "the brutal terrorist organization that showed all of the world its ugliness ... through abominable crimes that exposed its false allegations and drew outrage and disgust from the Arab peoples."

The release continued by saying the initiative comes from the "deep belief in the need for Arab collective cooperation to eliminate terrorism ... through the collective encountering of these terrorist gangs and their misleading ideology and brutal practices."

The Guardian reports that UAE fighters will join raids from inside Jordan, and that a squadron of F16s has been ordered to support the Jordanian armed forces.  A source stated, "This is a big boost and will be helping our [Gulf] brothers shorten their flying distances and intensify strikes against the militants."

The U.S. has declined to comment on the matter, and has referred all queries to the UAE.
