For quite some time now, SM Entertainment has been teasing us with videos updating us on the latest activities of their current trainee project, SM Rookies.

For those who are not familiar with SM Rookies, they are a project created by SM Entertainment showcasing the lives and activities of their trainees as they prepare to make their big debut in the Korean music industry. The members of SM Entertainment's most recent girl group, Red Velvet, were also a part of SM Rookies before the team was formed.

SM Rookies have already gathered quite the following of fans with strong presences on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr and more. Many of the accounts update about their latest schedules, photos, videos, and other general information about the rookies.

But what is it that makes the SM Rookies so charming?

Impressive Dance Skills

Many artists under SM Entertainment are known for their impeccable dancing skills and it looks like this particular trait was passed down to the newbies as well.

SM Rookies have showcased their dancing many times at various events including SMTOWN concerts, EXO's music variety show EXO 90:2014, and through videos uploaded via SM's official YouTube channel. They have been praised for their sharp skills and synchronization that they executed during their various performances.

Singing Abilities

SM Entertainment teased us quite a bit by uploading cover videos of the SM Rookies to their YouTube channel. These videos featured the Rookies dancing, hanging out with their labelmates, and occassionally showcasing their vocal skills.

Humor and Funny Antics

Aside from powerful dancing and addicting vocals, the SM Rookies will occasionally get together just to hang out and show a more natural side of themselves. Occasionally the company will upload videos of the members hanging out or even celebrating the birthdays of their fellow rookies.

Cuteness

The current age range of SM Rookies is between 12 and 20 years old, hence there are some members that are still quite young. Many times, the youngest members are regarded to as having the most "aegyo" or cuteness. Rookies Mark Lee and Donghyuk revealed their playful nature when they reacted to Red Velvet's debut music video "Happiness" while the older rookies showed their shy charm during their appearences on EXO 90:2014.

MC Specialty

Despite not even making an official debut yet, SM Rookies Jaehyun and Doyoung secured MC spots for the fourth year of Show Champion early on. Previous 'Inkigayo' MC's and company label mates Baekhyun and Suho of EXO, did not make their standing music show MC until nearly two years after their debut.

Most of these hidden talents stem from the boys of SM Rookies as there is not as much content posted about the girls of the unit. The ladies that were a part of SM Rookies, however, made their debut last year under the name Red Velvet and have successfully proven their charm to their growing fan base.

Red Velvet showed the versatility that comes with the ladies of SM Rookies having debuted with the fun and colorful track "Happiness" and following up with "Be Natural," a classy and sexy switch.

Red Velvet added another female SM Rookie, Yeri,  to the group when the ladies returned with the EP "Ice Cream Cake." As of May 9, Yeri also took up an hosting spot on MBC's Show! Music Core.

It would seem that the SM Rookies are well on their way to stardom!
