Michael Schumacher Condition News & Update: F1 Champion's Recovery 'Painfully Slow;' Family Sells Holiday Home In Norway

News updates about Michael Schumacher's condition have not really provided some sort of relief as the seven-time F1 champ's recovery has been "painfully slow." Meanwhile, the family sold their holiday home in Norway to help defray cost of treatment.

According to Express, the family already spent £10 million with little progress to show for Michael Schumacher's condition since his ski accident last year.

The varying updates for Michael Schumacher's condition prompted the family to order a news blackout.

"Yet it is known that he remains mute with 'limited awareness' of his environment and is also still unable to walk," the publication said, adding that it talked to an insider who claimed that "progress is painfully slow."

The insider added that "there's no miracle in the horizon."

"If you look at severe head injury victims who go on to make a good recovery - and I'm not saying all do - it will always be a story of years," Peter Hamlyn, an expert on head injuries in sport, told the publication.

Meanwhile, Michael Schumacher's vacation home in Norway was sold for $2.9 million.

Peter Birkrem, a real estate agent, said The Local, "It was his refuge from the media pursuit he has suffered throughout his life."

The holiday home was purchased just three months after it was put up in the market.

Earlier, Michael Schumacher's wife Corina sold the gray Falcon 2000EX jet, which is described as capable of flying eight passengers at 600 miles per hour. It also has a personal insigna for the Formula One champion on the tail.

When he was still active in Formula One, Michael Schumacher reportedly traveled between 300 to 400 hours every year using the jet around the world. When he wasn't competing, he uses the jet to fly his family to destinations, or shuttle his kids, Gina Maria, 17, and Mick, 15 to their school in Switzerland.

But with Michael Schumacher's condition, the need for a jet is no longer required.
