K-Pop's Longest-Running Boy Band Shinhwa Tops Charts With 12th Studio Album 'We'

The veteran idol group Shinhwa has put out another powerful hit album. The sextet's 12th studio album 'We' was released yesterday, February 26, and its title track "Sniper" immediately shot up to #1 on real-time music charts such as Bugs, Genie, Olleh Music, Mnet and Cyworld, reports Allkpop.

"Sniper" is a beat-filled pop track featuring the group's trademark strong vocals and rap. The song talks about a passionate love for a girl, and the extreme attention the admirer is willing to give the girl to win her heart. The song was written by Jam Factory, and composed by Andrew Jackson, Sebastian Lundberg and LDN Noise. Rap lyrics and arrangement were by Shinhwa member Eric, David Kim and Bizzy.

In the "Sniper" MV, which was released on February 25, Shinhwa can be seen dancing as a group in red outfits. Each member can also be seen looking longingly to partially masked women. The interaction between the group and the women then progresses into more intimate touching, like Eric caressing the face of his partner and turning her head to his face.

Striking imagery were also used to suggest a fine line between passion and obsession like a burning men's jacket suit. "You Can Run You Can't Hide / I can't miss a single moment / Because you're mine" the group sings in "Sniper". A spinning coin may also stand for the uncertainty that comes with such a strongly felt desire.

Aside from "Sniper", the ten-track album also includes songs like "Alright", "White Shirts" and "Don't Cry". What did you think of Shinhwa's newest album? Which has been your favorite song so far?
