New Details Released About 'Tom Clancy's The Division' PvP Dark Zones, Plus Promo Trailer And More [VIDEO]

New details have been released about the upcoming Ubisoft game "Tom Clancy's The Division."

The game is set in New York City after a virus devastates the population and makes basic services impossible. The Division is a special kind of self contained autonomous sleeper agent activated during periods of intense upheaval. The player seeks to stabilize neighborhoods, build bases, and collect resources to stabilize the city. The producers have been very vocal about the fact that the game is an RPG first and a shooter second. It is not a first person shooter with a leveling device tacked on at the end.

According to Gamespot new details were announced during  the first-ever "The Division" podcast on Soundcloud.

Developers talked about PvP areas called Dark Zones. Dark Zones are separate from The Division's main campaign, and allows players to fight head to head without loosing items if they die. When you find items in the Dark Zone, you need to "Extract" them while if you die in the middle of this, you loose the item permanently.

"The Division" will have a non-combat Social Hub, where players can walk around and interact. The campaign is also playable in co-op.

Barnard also shared that the original concept for the game has changed quite a bit. "We had a game of a different type that was basically going in a direction that Ubisoft and us internally were not quite 100 percent happy with," Barnard said

Ubisoft has recently promised the game in 2015, but has not announced an official release date. The game has been delayed a few times. Many speculate this is because Ubisoft faced massive criticism for releasing "Assassin's Creed Unity," before it was ready to be released. The game also reportedly includes a drone controlled by a tablet.
