NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks Eyeing Tobias Harris And Greg Monroe This Off-Season; Will They Trade Their 2015 Lottery Pick?

The New York Knicks are heading to the lottery by the end of this season and are poised to draft somewhere in top 3. While that's a start, the team is also pushing to acquire young talents via restricted free agency.

Fansided reported that the Knicks might be an unlikely destination for marquee unrestricted free agents given their current roster and level of talent. Despite the chance to draft premiere talents like Jahlil Okafor, Emanuel Mudiay, Karl Towns, or D'Angelo Russell, they are still projected to be a bottom dweller team for the years to come.

"Despite all the talk about the Knicks' 2015 cap space, several league executives think they're going to have a hard time landing players given their bleak situation. They do believe the Knicks have a legitimate shot at two guys - Long Island's Tobias Harris and Monroe."

The Knicks have been eyeing Harris and Monroe for quite a while now, as both players will fill in big holes in their frontcourt. Harris could serve as the back-up for Carmelo Anthony, who is riddled by injuries since resigning with the Knicks last off-season.

Meanwhile, Greg Monroe will fill in the big gap Amare Stoudemire left after the contract buy-out and signing with Dallas.

Although their signing may not guarantee the Knicks of instantly contending for a playoff spot, once the next season begins, it will be an excellent start for the team and with the possible addition of a future franchise cornerstone, the Knicks might be an enticing team to sign with once again. However, if the opportunity presents itself, will the New York Knicks trade their 2015 lottery pick for a more established star player?

Meanwhile, Phil Jackson went to Ohio State's game on Thursday night in Columbus and is impressed with D'Angelo Russell's performance.  Jackson told Cleveland.com that Russell was a "great looking kid, great prospect."
