Shinhwa Express Interest In Collaborating With Girls' Generation

The longest running male idol group wants to work with one of the top girl groups.

During an interview with MBC, Shinhwa's members revealed that they were interested in collaborating with SM Entertainment's girl group, Girls' Generation. Shinhwa's member also suggested that their fans would appreciate Shinhwa performing a trot song, based on Korea's unique pop style.

On February 22, Shinhwa's six members met with MBC's Section TV to discuss their 12th full length album, "WE" and the title track, "Sniper." During the interview, the group discussed multiple topics, including what younger idol group Shinhwa would like to collaborate with if given the chance.

"We think that we would match well with Girls' Generation, whom we are close to," Lee Min Woo responded.

The reporter followed up with what genre of music they would like for the collaboration, Jun Jin made everyone laugh by responding, "trot."

Both Shinhwa and Girls' Generation had their starts at SM Entertainment. Girls' Generation is still signed to the Korean entertainment agency, while Shinhwa moved to Good Entertainment in 2003 upon expiration of the member's contracts. The group then formed their own company, Shinhwa Company (now ShinCom Entertainment,) in 2013.

During the Section TV interview, Shinhwa also explained that they've had to alter their dance routines due to age, and discussed why they could never again make another nude photo book like the one that they shot in 2001. Kim Dongwan comically explained that, due to the globally popularity of K-pop and Shinhwa, the group would never be able to find somewhere in Asia where they could recreate the atmosphere of the shoot because fans would find them and distract the photo shoot.

Shinhwa made its comeback with on February 26, when the group released "WE." This is Shinhwa's first album since the release of the group's 11th album "The Classic," released in 2013.
