Crayon Pop Teases Fans With New 'Power Rangers' Concept Before SXSW Appearance

Super sentai step aside, Crayon Pop is back.

The girl group known for its humorous concepts is back with a new song this March, and a concept that mimics the world famous Power Rangers franchise. The groups teasers for upcoming album "FM" were released only a few days before Crayon Pop performs in Austin, Texas, at SXSW 2015.

Crayon Pop's five members appeared in a variety of teaser images wearing combat suits. The five members appeared posing in two teaser images for "FM," wearing leather jackets napnts with white gloves and boots.

In the teaser video released on March 15, Crayon Pop's members were depicted with a variety of powers and fighting skills in a dessert-like region, and got ready for battle in an urban area before being introduced with individual colors.

Crayon Pop is making an appearance at the 2015 South By Southwest K-Pop Night Out on March 20, which will be the first time that Crayon Pop performs at SXSW.

The girl group gained global attention for its humors concepts for "Bar Bar Bar" and follow-up song "Uh-Ee."

It is unknown whether Crayon Pop will debut songs from "FM" at the SXSW showcase, where Crayon Pop will perform alongside acts like Epik High, Hitchhiker, EE, the Barberettes, and other Korean acts.

Crayon Pop's "Bar Bar Bar" concept, where the members wore sweat suits and helmets, led to breakout, viral success for Crayon Pop. The song topped Korean music charts, and Crayon Pop eventually signed a contract with Sony Music Entertainment.

Fans of Crayon Pop expressed excitement on YouTube for the upcoming album.

"The return of the Super Happy Group in K-pop!" said Fahri Sulaiman. "No need to listen 'Happy' by Pharell because all of the Crayon Pop's songs will automatically make you happy and giving bright smile on your face...Crayon Pop is coming again to make sure you'll [be] happy this month because...they really knew you miss Power Rangers/Super Sentai so much!!! Crayon Pop is Power Rangers/Super Sentai just for you...and for your childhood memories."

Many comments noted the difference between Crayon Pop's style and other female K-pop groups.

"What you can't see is that behind the hill those explosions just slayed all the other K-pop groups," commented Apreche.
