FTISLAND Performs Live Acoustic for 150 Fans in Japan

Immediately after their Taiwan concert, FTISLAND returned to Japan to perform a rare acoustic live stage for an audience of 150.  While audience seating was very limited, 6000 fans flooded the application system for a chance at this one-of-a-kind show.

FTISLAND performed in the summer at the Saitama Arena which got 60,000 people attending 2-days of the Summer Tour's finale. FTISLAND's Summer Arena Tour was their public appearance in Japan after the release of their full album, Twenty, in May.

To commemorate the release of their ninth single, Polar Star, FTISLAND held their first live acoustic performance.

With the band's explosive growth since debut, holding concerts from hall to arena venues was inevitable.  However, that set-up meant greater distance to the audience.  So, for this recent performance, the members wanted to create an intimate atmosphere and cherish a small distance from the fans.  Thus, they limited the audience to 150 people, making live acoustic a place they can go back to their roots.

While FTISLAND has performed live acoustics for TV previously, their distance from the fans for those was still great.  This was their first live acoustic public appearance wherein the fans were really close to them.  It is in fact the first with such a limitation of 150 seats, and given the exclusivity, the application system was flooded and filled up 40 times faster than before.

The live acoustic opened with "Stay" from their Twenty album, the perfect opening song choice for such an setting. "Beautiful World" was also unveiled, which is Choi Jong Hun's composition and B-side track from the 9th single, and also featured Song Seunghyun on vocals.  "Love, Love, Love" was also performed during the opening set to a Latin-sounding arrangement. Lee Hong Ki forgetting lyrics to the opening set was an adorable sight to see.

During the introduction, it was revealed that the members chose the setlist themselves for this performance.

The show continued on with "Raining," a track from FTISLAND's indie days. With Jaejin leading the vocals for the song and Min Hwan playing the cajon instead of the drums, it was a truly beautiful moment.  They turned the tempo up to play an acoustic rock version of "Top Secret," which had a cool finish.

Since it was member Jaejin's birthday on December 17, the band and audience did an impromptu tribute acapella with "Happy Birthday My Dear Friend."

The performance ended with the performance of "Polar Star," the carrier track of their recently released single.  Here, Hong Ki showed off his falsetto and performed in the middle of the audience to the delight of the fans.

During the show, FTISLAND also mentioned the first ever release of a DVD set dedicated to their PVs or music videos. 'FTISLAND Music Clips' will feature their music videos since debut and will be available for a Christmas release on December 24 in both DVD and Blu Ray.
