‘Pacific Rim 2’ Plot Will Be An Intergalactic Battle Between Humans And Allies Against Insectoids; Rinko Kikuchi Returning

Fans are in for a treat as "Pacific Rim 2" is on the works and rumors of an intergalactic war between humans and allies from the future are set to battle against the aliens. Also, Rinko Kikuchi confirmed she will return as the film's heroine.

For the film's plot, We Got This Covered thought of a possible mind-blowing sequel which is an all-out intergalactic war between insectoid aliens and mankind. The articles said that a repeat of the first film's plot won't be exciting anymore. Instead, He came up with a sequel name which is "Solar Rim". According to the author, unexpected allies from the future would come to assist the humans in eradicating the kaiju and would upgrade the Jaegers.

He further added that the humans destroying the breach alarmed the Aliens and saw them as potential threat, thus an all-out attack will be launched against Earth. It is up to the alliance to stop the threat of extinction. With the technology now on par with aliens, a space battle will ensue with the protagonists facing the greatest Kaiju.

Meanwhile, the director shared what fans can expect from the main character. Via IB Times:

"We are taking the characters into a completely different journey this time because Raleigh (played by Hunnam) for me solved his problem the minute he was able to go full circle and save Mako by sacrificing himself, which is what he couldn't do with his brother. He's not on that journey anymore, he's on a new journey."

The director also said that he loves the character of Mako Morin played by Kikuchi:

"To me, my favorite character in many ways is Mako Mori in 'Pacific Rim'. I just love it. It's an experience that you can't get any other way."

In a recent interview with Carolyn Cox of Mary Sue, Rinko Kikuchi was asked if she has any idea what fans can expect from the sequel, or what her involvement might be.

"It does appear that the director has some ideas for a sequel. I'd be interested very much in working on a sequel, but there's really nothing I can say in any specific terms."
