Red Hot Chili Peppers New Album Coming This Year? Former Guitarist John Frusciante Talks About Why He Left The Band

A new Red Hot Chili Peppers album is on its way and is expected this year as the band has confirmed that they are in the studio working on their eleventh album.

Now with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer playing guitar after John Frusciante left the band to work on his solo career, RHCP revealed something really "different" for their upcoming record.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, drummer Chad Smith revealed the process of the new album. He also revealed that they are working with an unnamed producer, which was later revealed by Flea to be Danger Mouse.

"The new album is shaping up good," Smith said. "We've got lots of songs, and we're working with an unnamed producer who is really challenging us to find new ways to come up with new music. We've done the 'guys get in the room and jam out songs, everybody playing together all at once' thing."

In line with this, the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer also revealed that they have been trying a new method in song writing and recording that is expected to surprise fans.

"And we wrote a bunch of songs that way," he said. "And we're now going to try another method that will be really challenging for us and will bring new, exciting results for the band. We've written and recorded in a way that we've never done before, so the record is going great. We all have high hopes that it's going to take off and we're going to do something very different and unique for the Red Hot Chili Peppers."

Meanwhile, Uproxx recently reported how former guitarist John Frusciante described his relationship with the band and revealed the reason why he quit the group twice.

The 45-year-old musician revealed that it was a personal decision that he left because of mistakes he made as a person.

"I really love the band and what we did," Frusciante said. "Over the last 12 years, I have changed, as a person and artist, to such a degree that to do further work along the lines I did with the band would be to go against my own nature. There was no choice involved in this decision. I simply have to be what I am, and have to do what I must do."
