As previously reported, actress Meryl Streep is rumored to have a role in the film. She will allegedly play the villain Rita Repulsa, who challenges the Power Rangers into battle.

Along with Streep, "The Hunger Games" actor Liam Hemsworth is also rumored to join the cast. "Kick-ass" star Chloe Grace Moretz is also allegedly in talks with the producers in partaking the role of pink ranger.

In other news, former cast member Austin St. John has recently gotten back to Hollywood. This led fans to assume that he will be back for a role in the upcoming film. They want his appearance to be like that of Leonard Nimoy's during his cameo in the "Startrek" film.

The official synopsis for the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" reboot has been published by Screen Rant and can be read below,

"From a story by Executive Producer Roberto Orci (TRANSFORMERS, STAR TREK, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2) and screenwriters Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, THOR) comes a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world."

The release date for the much-awaited film is on Jul. 22, 2016.
