April Set To Be Competitive Month For K-Pop As Major Idol Acts Make Comebacks

A clash of kings will take place in South Korea the first week of April.

Artists from several Korean entertainment agencies will be fighting to take top spots on Korean music charts. SM Entertainment's EXO and JYP Entertainment's miss A released new albums on March 30, reaching the top of Korean music charts in April just as numerous other highly-anticipated acts planned comebacks and debuts.

JYP Entertainment also confirmed the April solo debut of 15& member Park Jimin, as well as the comeback of CEO Park Jin Young.

SM Entertainment's powerhouse act Girls' Generation will also release "Catch Me If You Can" in Japanese, the girl group's first song minus former member Jessica Jung.

YG Entertainment, the third of the so-called Big Three Korean entertainment companies, was rumored to have idol group Big Bang make a comeback, but a teaser released on April 1 clarified that promotions have been pushed off until May 1.

As March turned into April, miss A's "Only You" took the number one spot on all Korean music charts, with a song from Unpretty Rapstar and EXO's "Call Me Baby" in the following two spots on most charts, making April begin with much competition for other acts promoting in April.

EXID and Mamamoo, two vocal female idol groups, made headlines in 2014 and are making highly-anticipated comebacks in April.

Several high profile debuts, including rapper Iron, girl group Oh My Girls, and boy band Seventeen will also add to further grappling on Korean music charts.

K-pop fans on Twitter are anticipating the competition.

As @sekaikon put it, " EXID, EXO, miss A and all in April say goodbye to me I won't survive."
