Here is a short synopsis from Funimation which also streamed the first season in Japan last year.
"Yato may just be a minor god now, but he's determined to make it big and he's got a plan. Unfortunately, things just don't seem to be going his way. He doesn't have a single shrine dedicated to him, his partner has just quit, and now he's got to find a new divine weapon. Just when things look bleak, he meets a girl named Hiyori and changes her life forever."
"Noragami" wiki page has the summary of what transpired in the last episode.
YouTuber TehDemonick made a video review of the season one finale and prediction for season two. In the video, he said that the animation, character progression, and action in the last episode were amazing. He went on to say how in twelve episodes, "Noragami" successfully did the character progression compared to "Tokyo Ravens" and "Log Horizon," each with 26 episodes.
What made him believe that there will be a second season is when Nora lamented about her failure, and goes to discuss it with "father." Also, he said that a new villain might be introduced to make Yato's life a living hell.
