VR CEO Palmer Luckey Announces Oculus Rift Consumer Version Release Date; VR Headset In Stores Winter 2015

At last, the next generation of gaming experience is within reach as reports confirm that Oculus Rift Consumer Version is set to hit stores winter of 2015 as confirmed by VR CEO Palmer Luckey.

According to Gamenguide, CEO Palmer Luckey has confirmed reports that the Oculus Rift consumer version release date is anticipated to arrive on Winter 2015.

"Speaking to The Telegraph, as reported by VR Focus, Luckey estimated a winter 2015 launch for the first consumer version of the VR headset" wrote Gamenguide.

In a previous report by Tech Radar, Palmer Luckey said they have made the necessary enhancements to the device. The company stated the Oculus Rift consumer version already boasts terrific improvements compared to the previous beta version of the Oculus Rift, "DK2." The significant improvements they specified that gamers can expect to the VR are its resolution and over-all smoothness.

"Co-founder Palmer Luckey also stated that the consumer system's resolution would get a 'significant increase' over the DK2's 1080p display, with a refresh rate that will hit 90Hz or higher" said Techradar.

For gamers wondering how much the device would cost them, Palmer Luckey and Nate Micthell said it will cost around $200 to $400.

"Company co-founders Palmer Luckey and Nate Micthell stated they want to keep the hardware in the $200-$400 range; something similar to the prices of current development kit models. The DK2 model, specifically, sells for $350" wrote Game Rant.
