The Cure New Album Still On Its Way; Robert Smith Worked With The Twilight Sad For Band’s Upcoming Release

As a follow up to the 2008 release "4:13 Dream," reports claim that The Cure is working on a new album and would be a mix of the old and the new sound of the band.

In an interview with NME as reported by Uncut, band vocalist Robert Smith revealed that they are ready to surprise their fans with what they have in store since they would be putting in unreleased materials for the record.

"There's new stuff that we're doing with this line-up and stuff we finished with the old line up," Smith said.

Smith previously planned a double release for their 2008 record that was denied by the label, which got him a little frustrated.

"Honestly? Just pure bloody mindedness," he said. "I was so f*cking angry that [the label] wouldn't release a double album that I wouldn't give them the other songs."

The songs intended to be used for the previous record that wasn't included will then be added in the new album. In line with this, new members are lined up for the group. Member since 2012, Reeves Gabrels would now work on the upcoming release that is believed by Smith to give a new twist to their unreleased tracks.

"A lot of stuff happened, unfortunately, with the last line-up of the band," said the vocalist. "People forget sometimes that even when you get older, when you play music with people, there's a very intense relationship there and when that breaks down then it's very difficult to just pretend it doesn't matter."

"The last line-up, there were a number of reasons why I felt unable to complete what we were doing. It was impossible to just get another line-up and bang out the songs we didn't release; it would have been wrong."

The new The Cure album is rumored to be out by the end of this year of by next year.
