Justin Timberlake is ‘Ready’ to Release New Album, First in Six Years

After a six-year hiatus, Justin Timberlake will finally return to his roots and release his first album since his critically acclaimed hit FutureSex/LoveSongs.

In 2006, Timberlake decided to take a break from the music industry to focus on launching his acting and designing career. He starred in a number of movies - including Alpha Dog, Friends With Benefits, The Social Network, and more recently, Trouble with the Curve - and founded a clothing line, William Rast, with his best friend Trace Ayala.

Fans waiting patiently, but every time Timberlake showed up at a press junket for one of his films, he was naturally asked, "When will you return to music?" He remained coy until 2011, when he finally revealed to Playboy, "Music is not my focus right now. It may be someday. It could happen next month or next year but right now it's not where it's at for me."

Well, it seems like that time is now! Instead of releasing a statement, Timberlake shared the news with his fans in a video (check it out below) that he posted on his website yesterday. The black and white film shows the pop star walking into a recording studio, taking a microphone at the end and simply saying: "I'm ready."

He also posted on Twitter: "To whom it may concern...I think I'M READY!"

Since the announcement was made, various media outlets have been reporting that Timberlake will collaborate with Timbaland, Jay-Z, and Beyonce. In fact, pop star Justin Bieber confirmed Timbaland's involvement when he tweeted, "@jtimberlake @Timbaland I have heard some stuff. U got a reason to be ready. #greatmusic," earlier today.

Are you ready for Timberlake's new music?
