Eddie Vedder From Pearl Jam Joins Pete Townshend And Simon Townshend For 50th Anniversary Of The Who

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder has always been an unabashed fan of The Who. Pearl Jam headlined a tribute to the maximum R&B band a few years ago and it doesn't take much to get the band to launch into a Who cover.

Vedder will join Pete Townshend, the songwriter and guitarist of The Who, along with his brother Simon Townshend on May 14 at the Rosemont Theater in Rosemont, IL, Pete Townshend as a part of an evening celebrating The Who, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary with a tour.

Vedder performed at a "The Who Hits 50" concert in November of 2014 at London Shepherd's Bush Empire. Pearl Jam burst through "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Naked Eye." Vedder also jammed with The Who themselves during their Royal Albert Hall shows in 2000.

The Who "changed my whole world," Vedder told Rolling Stone Magazine in a 2008 interview. "It's a big part of why I get to do what I do." Pearl Jam also regularly employs a cover of "Baba O'Riley" as well as "Love Reign O'er Me." The band performed the latter at the VH1 Rock Honors ceremony in 2008.

Vedder, who is a native of Evanston, Ill., will honor The Who in Illinois On May 14 at the Rosemont Theater in Rosemont, IL., for "An Evening Celebrating The Who." Townshend and Vedder will be accompanied by Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr's son on drums, Simon Townshend on guitar, Pino Palladino on bass, John Corey on keyboards, Loren Gold, also on keyboards and Frank Simes yet another tingle of the ivories.

Money from "An Evening Celebrating The Who" will support Teen Cancer America, which was established in 2012 by Roger Daltrey and Townshend as well as programs for teenagers and young adults with cancer at the University of Chicago Medicine along with other local children's charities.
