'Warcraft' Movie Director Duncan Jones Discusses Plot; Main Characters Revealed!

"Warcraft" director Duncan Jones sat down with 2P and revealed what can be expected in the upcoming film.

"There has been a long history of trying to make a Warcraft film, and for a number of reasons, it never quite happened," Jones reveals.  "I was lucky.  When I went to talk to Chris Metzen and the guys at Blizzard, we both saw things the same way.  A Warcraft film should not be about a good race of humans battling an evil race of Orcs!  Warcraft should be about heroes on both sides trying to avoid a conflict, when villains leave them no choice."

In the interview, he was asked which character is his favorite. Here's his response:

"As for favorites, I cannot do that!" adding, "I am like a parent now! They are all wonderful in their own ways. I hope that with our film, the audience will get a chance to see past the Horde/Alliance divide and recognize the heroes on BOTH sides!"

Jones eventually revealed that character Durotan was "very special" to him.

He also revealed "There are some new characters, and some that already existed, but who may not be that well known."

Meanwhile, the characters from both factions have been revealed. Below is a rundown from Yibada:

The Humans of Stormwind will feature Travis Fimmel as Anduin Lothar, Ruth Negga as Lady Taria, Ben Foster as Magus Medivh, Dominic Cooper as King Llane Wrynn, and Ben Schnetzer as Khadgar. Leading The Horde is Toby Kebell as Durotan, Rob Kazinsky as Orgrim Doomhammer, Daniel Wu as Gul'dan, and Clancy Brown as Blackhand.

Other cast members include Dean Redman, Daniel Cudmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Burkely Duffield, and Paula Patton.

The "Warcraft" movie is expected in U.S. theaters on Mar. 11, 2016.
