Los Angeles Lakers News: Rajon Rondo Unwanted In Dallas; LA Coveting Point Guard Despite Incompetent Play

It's official. Rajon Rondo will no longer be a Dallas Mavericks next season as confirmed by head coach Rick Carlisle. Meanwhile, reports indicate that he actually desires playing for the Los Angeles Lakers but is he worth the max contract despite his mediocre play for the Mavs?

Tim McMahon of ESPN asked Rick Carlisle if he expects Rajon Rondo to suit up for the Dallas Mavericks again next season, Carlisle said, "No, I don't."

The Dallas Mavericks knew what they will be getting from Rondo. He is a point guard who could facilitate but has below average shooting percentage considering his position (40% 2-point FG, 25% 3- point FG percentage.) When he was still playing for the Boston Celtics, his weakness was not fully exposed since they got Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett as the primary option. What the Dallas Mavericks did not expect was his lack of passion this off-season and his unpleasant attitude towards head coach Rick Carlisle. Just watch the video below.

Given that, would any team still sign him around the max contract? It seems the Lakers are still fond of Rondo as reports indicate he is already locked to become a Laker next season. Not only that, he is expecting a max contract according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.

"When Rondo realized his run with the Celtics was over this year, he planned to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer, league sources told Yahoo Sports. He expected a maximum contract."

Also, ESPN's Max Kellerman guaranteed that Rondo will be the Lakers' newest acquisition next season. Kellerman discussed it on his radio show Max & Marcellus on 710 ESPN.

"As I heard from people who would know told me a couple months ago that [Rajon] Rondo is mortal, about a month ago, that Rondo is a mortal lock to sign with the Lakers."

Kellerman also said that Rondo and the Lakers will be a perfect match.

"Marcellus, when I first heard that Rondo was coming to L.A., which he is, it was about a month ago and a friend of mine who knows, who is in the business, said it is a mortal lock that the Lakers will sign Rajon Rondo. I'm not going to mention his name, but it is a very reliable source who has his ear to the ground."

Will the Los Angeles Lakers prefer Rajon Rondo over budding star Jordan Clarkson? Stay tuned.
