'Supergirl' CBS Cast Confirms Malina Weissman As Young Kara Zor-El; Villains Revealed!

News about the much-anticipated CBS series "Supergirl" has been exciting fans all over the world.

News reports claim that the casting for the young Kara Zor-El has already been made, with child actress Malina Weissman portraying the role of a young Melissa Benoist.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the young actress has been officially booked. Represented by David Gardner under Paradigm, Malina is set to portray a role that can possibly catapult her career even further.

As known to the public, Weissman has appeared in the hit film, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" starring Megan Fox. In the movie, Malina has played the role of Fox's charaacter when she was a lot younger.

Following the report, fans have concluded that the plot for the "Supergirl" TV series will include flashbacks of Kara's childhood if not totally begin from that point.

In other news, Owain Yeoman has been previously confirmed for the role of the villain Vartox in the series. The arc for his character will tell the story of how he is hiding his powers on Earth same as Kara's. After Supergirl reveals herself, Vartox follows suit and tries to find Supergirl for himself to challenge her to a battle.

Yeoman was part of numerous projects prior to his casting for the role of Vartox. Some of the series he was featured in included the following, "Laid to Rest 2," "The Mentalist," and HBO's "Generation Kill."

After Vartox's announcement, hardcore fans were quick to speculate on other villains that might be included in the upcoming CBS series. One antagonistic character that made it to the headlines is Lumberjack.

The synopsis for the said TV series has been previously revealed by IGN,

"Based on the characters from DC Comics, Supergirl will follow Kara Zor-El. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara escaped amid its destruction years ago. And since arriving on Earth, she's been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be."
