Alicia Quarles Reveals That A Hollywood Star Tried To 'Dumb' Her Down; Who Was It?

Alicia Quarles, entertainment reporter for E! News recently opened up about how a hollywood star has tried to "dumb" her down.

She related that she was reporting for entertainment network, E! working the red carpet interviews. A big celebrity whom she has been interviewing for eight years already tried to "dumb" her down.

"This person was condescending in their answers and saw me as just an airhead TV personality with an A-list look and a mic in my hand," Quarles explained. "Star X then moved on to be interviewed by the journalist standing next to me and said, "See, this is what I was waiting for: a real news outlet and a real reporter."

But the reporter had a ready answer to the A-list celebrity's comment.

"Oh, that is funny, because you just spoke with a real reporter and a real outlet," the reporter said. "Alicia was my boss for years and taught us a lot."

Quarles went on to give a little background on herself. She wrote that she had worked for years at The Associated Press as a reporter. Over years of hard work, she climbed to the top of the editorial ladder and became a global entertainment editor, handling over 70 people in the news agency's print, TV, radio, and photo outlets.

"The road to stilettos was paved in blood and sweat," she shared. "I've stood in the bushes to get great access when covering the funeral of Ronald Reagan, waited in the freezing cold for 12 hours while covering the inauguration of President Barack Obama lugged heavy camera equipment around as a one-woman production band to get stories, only to then come back and work until the wee hours of the morning to produce the pieces that went on the air."

She went on to reveal that even though she is now living a glamorous entertainment reporter's life, she is still putting in the necessary hard work and effort.

"I want young people who think, 'I want to be on TV' after they see E! correspondents in fabulous clothes or talking to celebrities to understand that it's not all glamour-and it can all be taken away," she concluded.
