Paul McCartney Talks Budokan Return, Kanye West As John Lennon, Let It Be As ‘Only One’ And Pulls Out ‘Another Girl’ Live For First Time [VIDEO]

Paul McCartney New Update: Paul McCartney returned to Tokyo Tokyo's Nippon Budokan arena almost 50 years after the Beatles braved protesters for afternoon and evening shows. Paul McCartney, 72, got to make a live debut of a song that was long overdue. This was the first time the song "Another Girl" from the album and film "Help" had been performed live.

The Beatles first played the Budokon arena in 1966.  McCartney last performed in Japan in 2013.

"It was sensational and quite emotional remembering the first time and then experiencing this fantastic audience tonight," McCartney said in a statement.

McCartney spent 10 days in jail in the country 35 years ago, when Japanese immigration officials found marijuana in the band's travel bag in 1980. I personally believe that's what he is singing about in the song "I'm Carrying."

Also this week it was reported that McCartney said the Beatles' classic gospel-infused hit "Let It Be"' inspired Kanye West's song 'Only One.'

"We sat around and talked an awful lot just to break the ice," McCartney told The Sun. "One of the stories I told him was about how I happened to have written 'Let It Be.' My mum came to me in a dream when she'd died years previously. I was in a bit of a state - it was the Sixties and I was overdoing it. In the dream she said, 'Don't worry it's all going to be fine, just let it be.' And I woke up and thought, 'Woah' and wrote the song."

"[Kanye] said, 'I'm going to write a song with my mum.' So then I sat down at the piano," McCartney said.

McCartney told The Sun, "Only One" was written from the perspective of the rapper's late mother Donda West.

McCartney said he worked with Kanye in much the same way he wrote with John.

"When I wrote with John, he would sit down with a guitar. I would sit down. We'd ping-pong till we had a song," McCartney told The Sun. "[Working with West] was like that."

The pair also worked together with Rihanna on "FourFiveSeconds."
