Tiger Woods and girlfriend Lindsey Vonn have just broken up. The couple, who have been seeing each other for three years have recently split. Vonn confirmed the news through a post on her Facebook account.

"Tiger and I have mutually decided to end our relationship," Vonn wrote on Facebook. "I will always cherish the memories that we've created together."

"Unfortunately, we both lead incredibly hectic lives that force us to spend a majority of our time apart," she continued. "I will always admire and respect Tiger. He and his beautiful family will always hold a special place in my heart."

For his part, Woods also confirmed the news through a message on his website. "Lindsey and I have mutually decided to stop dating," the golfer wrote.

"I have great admiration, respect and love for Lindsey and I'll always cherish our time together."

"She has been amazing with Sam and Charlie and my entire family," he concluded.

Vonn, an Olympic skier, had always said that she was in the relationship with Tiger Woods not for the purpose of getting married to him. In an interview with Vogue magazine, she declared that she was not interested in getting married.

But the two shared a healthy relationship while they were going out. Woods was reportedly very helpful during Vonn's knee injury. "I'm not a very patient person," Vonn said in an interview with "Today."

"He's very patient and mentally tough," she said. "He said just be patient, keep working hard, and everything is going to turn around. It really helped me get through it."

It will be recalled that Woods made headlines in 2010 when news of his infidelity were revealed, which eventually led to his wife, Elin Nordegren filing for divorce. His extramarital affairs were exposed, with several women coming forward to expose Woods' indiscretions.
