'Fashion Police' News: Giuliana Rancic's Husband Defends E! Mainstay; Bill Rancic Speaks Up About Wife's Controversy With Zendaya Coleman

"Fashion Police" news reported how Giuliana Rancic's husband defended the E! mainstay. According to a report from Today, Bill Rancic finally spoke up about the controversy involving his wife and Zendaya Coleman, who she dissed during the show's 2015 Oscars review.

"Fashion Police" made news earlier this year after Giuliana Rancic called out Zendaya Coleman for wearing dreadlocks "that probably smelled like patchouli oil or weed" at the 2015 Oscars.

The statuesque host was immediately criticized by viewers for her alleged insensitive racial joke. Bill Rancic shared how he badly wanted to defend Giuliana Rancic, but had to stay quiet for a while to let the issue die down.

"As a husband it was hard, because as a husband we are the defender, we want to protect our family and I just kind of had to be muzzled," he said.

"I wanted to get out there, and I wanted to defend my wife."

The former winner of "The Apprentice" shared how the whole fiasco helped strengthen their marriage.

"These situations bring you closer together. We're a team," he said.

According to a report from Us Weekly, Bill Rancic is proud of how Giuliana Rancic handled the backlash following her misinterpreted joke. Her husband also pointed out how his wife tried to remain silent when former "Fashion Police" hosts made news for quitting the show, supposedly out of their disappointment with Giuliana Rancic.

"It was tough. I was really surprised with how it happened," Bill Rancic said.

"Her intent was to make a hippie joke. It had nothing to do with what some of these people were saying. And boy, it just took on a life of its own."

Recent "Fashion Police" news reported how the show will go on a hiatus following the Zendaya Coleman fiasco.

Bill Rancic pointed out how the issue seemed to have been exaggerated and that it never would have happened if the late Joan Rivers were still alive.

The notoriously frank comedienne and former "Fashion Police" host died in September last year after a botched throat procedure.

"If Joan [Rivers] was around, she would have never allowed that to happen," Bill Rancic said about the exaggerated issues following Giuliana Rancic's joke.
