Suspended Tom Brady To Lose $2 Million In Salary From New England Patriots Over 'Deflategate' Football Deflation Scandal: NFL News

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has officially been suspended from the National Football League (NFL) and is expected to be deprived of $2 million in salary earnings, the New York Times reports.

Brady will be suspended from for regular-season matches without pay because of his alleged involvement in the "Deflategate" scandal. The NFL claims Brady, and several other New England Patriots players, were involved in a scheme to improperly deflate footballs during last season's A.F.C. championship game.

Brady's agent, Don Yee, has protested the NFL's decision and is seeking an appeal.

"There is no evidence that Tom directed footballs be set at pressures below the allowable limits," Yee said, according to the site.

"In fact, the evidence shows Tom clearly emphasized that footballs be set at pressures within the rules. The Wells report presents significant evidence, however, that the N.F.L. lacks standards or protocols with respect to its handling of footballs prior to games; this is not the fault of Tom or the Patriots."

The New England Patriots have also shown their support for Brady, with the team's owner Robert K. Kraft mentioning that the quarterback has their "unconditional support."

Brady has not commented on the suspension announcement made on Monday.

The quarterback is 37 years old.
