McDonald's Fish McBites; First Non-Chicken, Beef Option For Happy Meals

McDonald's, the biggest hamburger chain, announced their first non-chicken, beef option to their Happy Meals with the the addition of Fish McBites.

Fish McBites will be available throughout the U.S. from this week through March; the bite-sized Alaskan Pollock would be sold in three sizes on the standard menu in snack, regular and shareable varieties.

Kids will be trying the meal as a new option in more than a decade that the Happy Meal has existed. The new options will include seven fish nuggets, tar-tar dipping sauce, French fries, apple slices and a drink.

According to the Associated Press, Brian Irwin director of marketing for McDonald's USA said research revealed parents wanted the seafood option. Following the company's 2011 campaign to offer customers a healthier choice, the Fish McBites will allow parents another option to choose from.

Irwin said even though the Fish McBites are available temporarily, the company might bring them back periodically if the customers are happy with the addition.

The new addition marks the start of a bigger course of upcoming limited-time offers for the year ahead.
