In the same report, it claimed that Whibley is expected to write songs about his dark past after falling into comma for a week after having a kidney failure related to alchol.

"You can't go through something like that and not have it in your work but I mean, my life always comes out in my music. It's finding ways to talk about these things without being direct. Like, I'm writing a song called, 'Goddamn, I'm Dead Again', you know."

With regard to his condition, the Sum 41 singer revealed in a Gig Wise report how lucky and thankful he was to survive his medical condition.

"I think it was the right time in my life for it to happen. I'm glad it happened now and not when I'm like, 50, because my body wouldn't have been able to handle it. But it's unfortunate that it had to even come to that."

In addition to new album news for Sum 41, the group is scheduled to play a show at the upcoming APMA, which would be the band's first performance since the vocalist got out of the hospital.

"Playing live is the heart and soul for us," Whibley said in an Alternative Press report. "It's our chance to connect face to face with our fans, and I'm glad that we get to share our first experience back onstage again at the APMAs. It's also exciting to be a part of the event to support the first magazine to put our ugly mugs on the cover in America!"
