Andy Garcia Upstaged By Daughter Dominik Garcia-Lorido

Movie star Andy Garcia is no stranger to the attention that comes with being famous, but Monday night at the Hollywood premiere of the film "A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charlie Swan III" it was the actor's daughter, 29-year-old stunner Dominik Garcia-Lorido that was getting all of the attention.

Dressed in a form-fitting black velvet dress, Garcia-Lorido who appears in the Starz series "Magic City," was all smiles as she posed for photos with Garcia and worked the red carpet.

Set in Miami in 1959, in the era following the Cuban Revolution, "Magic City" is a mob drama focused around a fictitious luxury hotel called the Miramar Playa.

Garcia-Lorido plays Mercedes Lazaro, the daughter of the hotel's general manager. The Cuban actress told The Huffington Post in April that her research for the role included speaking with family members who moved to Miami during the same time period the show portrays.

"I went and talked to both of my grandmothers," Garcia-Lorido said. "They're still alive and they live in Miami and they both came over during the revolution. So I went to talk to them and looked at pictures, because even before the revolution, they used to go to Miami Beach from Cuba-they both went there on their honeymoons."

She says she is thrilled to be working in Miami. The actress was born there in 1983.

"We would spend the summers there growing up, so it's like my second home," Garcia-Lorido explained. "But I never went to school there. I love Miami. And I love working there-we shoot the show in Miami. Since the city is the central character of the show, we really couldn't shoot it anywhere else. It's such a specific kind of ambiance in Miami. That Cuban culture is very strong there-that in itself, I love. You have that confiancia! I don't have that in L.A. I don't have one Cuban friend in L.A."

But when asked if she would visit the country of her heritage, Garcia-Lorido says her father--an actor best known for his tough guy roles in "The Godfather III" and "Ocean's Eleven"-wouldn't like that so much.

"My dad wouldn't go and I was really raised in that kind of household," she said. "And my dad's been very outspoken against that political regime. I'm just very against the politics down there."
