"Pitch Perfect 2" has just premiered in theaters, and a new character portrayed by Hailee Steinfeld is being scrutinized as potentially the protagonist of "Pitch Perfect 3."

Meet Emily Junk, a legacy Bella who joins the crew in "Pitch Perfect 2" as a freshman in college. During a recent interview with EW, Hailee Steinfeld illuminated the chances of Emily being in "Pitch Perfect 3."

"I see her as very encouraging and she wants everyone to be happy," said Steinfeld.

"So I can definitely see her taking that older-sister role and introducing a whole new group of people to what she's been through. I think Rebel's character and Anna's character and, really, all of those girls kind of had that approach with me. It was sort of like, we've been through this, this is what it is."

But has Hailee heard anything about "Pitch Perfect 3?"

"No, I haven't," admitted Steinfeld. "But if that's going to happen. I'm in."

Given that most of the Bellas will be graduating, Emily Junk taking over the Bellas could very well work as far as storyline. But some fans have reservations about "Pitch Perfect 3" without stars like Anna Kendrick.

"From all the gossip it looks like if there is a ["Pitch Perfect 3"], Hailee will be heading it and I don't know how I feel about that," commented YouTube viewer Mairi Mitchell. "'Pitch Perfect' with Anna Kendrick is just 'Pitch.'"

After the box office success of "Pitch Perfect 2," producer-director Elizabeth Banks is already hinting at "Pitch Perfect 3," without giving away too much details.

"If fans embrace it, we are going to seriously think about what the continuing journey would look like, but we don't know what that is yet," said Banks.
