David Letterman’s Last ‘Late Show’ Monologue After 22 Years Was Amazing [VIDEO]

David Letterman celebrated his last show for “The Late Show” on Wednesday night after 22 years as the show’s host.

From start to finish of the nine minute clip, we must say, Letterman made sure we’ll never forget his long, very appreciated run in late-night comedy.

“It’s beginning to look like I’m not gonna get ‘The Tonight Show,’” Letterman stated in the beginning of his monologue.

The comedian also jokingly made sure to let the audience know that he wouldn’t fully be out of the spotlight.

“Paul and I will be debuting our new act at Ceasars Palace with white tigers,” stated Letterman.

“When I screw up, now I have to go on somebody else’s show to apologize.”

There have reportedly been over 6,000 episodes of “The Late Show” and Letterman has been a part of most of them. Before he completely closed the curtain on the show, Letterman made sure to thank everyone who worked on the show, the band and bandleader Paul Shaffer as well as his wife, Regina, and the couple’s son, Harry, who made a brief appearance on the last episode of the show.

“The people who watch this show, there’s nothing I can do to repay you,” stated Letterman.

“Thank you for everything. You’ve given me everything.”
