K-Pop Crossover: Jung Joon Young Band Teams Up With Nickleback Producer Brian Howes For 'OMG'

The man behind some of America's top musicians is working with K-pop's next big band.

Former solo artist Jung Joon Young is revamping his style and becoming a band with the debut of Jung Joon Young Band (JJY Band). The quartet will release "OMG" on May 27, a song produced by Grammy-nominated producer Brian Howes.

Howes has worked with top American acts including Nickelback, Daughtry, Boys Like Girls, Simple plan, and many others.

JJY Band introduced the Brian Howes collaboration on May 20 on the band's official Facebook page.

Along with working with JJY Band, Howes biggest hits have included Hinder's "Lips of an Angel" and Daughtry's "Over You."

Howes' profile on the Van Howes Studios official website calls him a "songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, A&R professional and studio owner."

A JJY Band representative told The K-Pop Herald that Brian Howes is also working on Bon Jovi's upcoming album.

 He also produced Boys Like Girls' "Love Drunk," Nickleback's "Here and Now" album and multiple songs for the aforementioned artists and others, including David Cook, Simple Plan, Skillet, and Puddle of Mudd.

Jung Joon Young gained the Korean spotlight after appearing on Super Star K4 in 2012, and has performed at KCON USA in Los Angeles. He also has acted in some dramas, including the currently airing TvN's "The Lover." He will act as the band's vocalist.

The rest of JJY Band consists of guitarist Jo Dae Min, bassist Jung Seok Won, and drummer Lee Hyun Kyu.

The quintet released two teaser video for JJY Band's debut song, "OMG," featuring the members and highlighting their rock sound.

The band's first album, "Escape To Hangover" on May 27.
