It’s summer, meaning that bikini season has come about.

Model Amanda Cerny walked us through the evolution of the bikini, going all the way back to the 1890s, in a video that has now gone viral.

There has been some debate among social media users as to which generation had the best pick of bikinis.

“The 1910s were the best. Sleeves when you’re swimming! Think of how you won’t get sunburned shoulders that way,” wrote YouTube user Danica DeCosto.

Fellow social media user 54Simon54 commented, “Hail the 1980’s.”

After seeing how far the bikini has come, it wasn’t difficult to notice how much the amount of fabric used for each generation had changed as well.

“There’s so little fabric on 2015, she might as well show up naked! Personally prefer 30s/40s,” commented YouTube user TheKieranator.

The video, which is actually an ad for a new resort, has garnered nearly 2 million views after only five days of being uploaded. It has also gathered more than 3,000 likes and counting.
