INFINITE's Sungjong Set To Join 'Real Men' Cast

The youngest member of INFINITE will head to the army. Just temporarily.

INFINITE's Lee Sungjong will join the cast of Real Men, a show on Korean station MBC that features celebrities experiencing the Korean army. Sungjong is the first INFINITE member to try his hand at the military, faux or real.

The INFINITE member will enter military training for the show on June 8, according to the Korean media outlet TV Report. Sungjong will partake in intensive training in Gangwon Province.

June 8 is the day before INFINITE celebrates their fifth anniversary, commemorating the group's debut with "Come Back Again" on June 9, 2010. Due to training, Sungjong did not film with the group for a live broadcast to commemorate their anniversary.

The news of Sungjong's temporary enlistment in the Korean military on Real Men comes shortly after rumors related to his sexuality and masculinity

INFINITE last made their comeback as a group in 2014, with the album "Back." The group has focused on concert tours and individual schedules. INFINITE's hip hop subunit INFINITE-H and the group's leader, Kim Sung Kyu, released music in 2014.

The 21-year-old Lee Sungjong must enlist in his actual service in the Korean military or public service by the time he is 30-years-old. Korean law requires that all men serve an average of two years in the military, due to the ongoing war with North Korea.

MBC's Real Men began airing in 2013 and has featured a variety of Korean celebrities and entertainers, showing their struggles with daily life in the Korean military. The cast often includes stars who do not have Korean citizenship and are not required to serve, idols who are have not yet entered the military, or celebrities who have already completed their service.
