Joan Rivers’ Death Not Caused By Her Celebrity Doctor? Gwen Korovin Slams Medical Malpractice Accusations

Joan Rivers' death was supposedly not caused by her celebrity doctor, said news from Page Six. According to the report, Dr. Gwen Korovin slammed the medical malpractice accusations that have been thrown at her following the late comedienne's fatal throat operation at an Upper East Side clinic named Yorkville Endoscopy.

A lawsuit was filed last January against the doctors who are allegedly responsible for Joan Rivers' death last Sept. 4, 2014. In Gwen Korovin's response, the ear, nose and throat specialist explained how she was invited by Dr. Lawrence Cohen to perform a transnasal laryngoscopy on the "Fashion Police" host.

Manhattan Supreme Court documents pointed out that Dr. Gwen Korovin was not even supposed to be working at Yorkville Endoscopy when the comedy icon had a routine throat operation that placed her in a coma, which eventually led to her untimely death.

Dr. Gwen Korovin also denied lawsuit claims that Renuka Bankulla, the anesthesiologist present at Joan Rivers' fatal operation, objected to the comedienne's flexible laryngoscopy. The anesthesiologist also said  Gwen Korovin fled the operating room when Joan Rivers' vital signs went haywire.

Another accusation denied by Gwen Korovin was how she supposedly took photos during Joan Rivers' fatal procedure.

"I was unaware of any photos being taken," she claimed.

After Joan Rivers' untimely and controversial death, Yorkville Endoscopy has been slammed with a multi-million dollar lawsuit by the comedienne's only daughter, Melissa Rivers.

According to a report from Time, the 47-year-old executive producer of "Fashion Police" said she still cannot fully comprehend how doctors were not able to save her mother.

"I want to find out what happened," Melissa Rivers said during a guest appearance at the "Wendy Williams Show."

"I need to know, I need answers. I'm angry."

Aside from talking about Joan Rivers' death, Melissa Rivers also addressed issues about her mother's show, "Fashion Police." She was recently confirmed as the show's new host following the resignations of Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin.

"It's just sitting down and saying 'Okay, we went back too fast,'" she said when she guested at NBC's "New York Live."

"We didn't realize how much everybody was mourning. It really was a family and the sisters started to have a fight, and all these things kind of happened."

"We lost our matriarch, and now we're figuring it out again," Melissa Rivers added.
