Recent Emma Roberts news revealed that the "American Horror Story" actress participated in a photo shoot which aspired to empower women.

Just last week, Emma Roberts shared a hint about such project which turned out to be a campaign for lingerie label AerieREAL.

The lingerie brand tapped several models to join the shoot which would leave the photos untouched. This means that all photographs from the project will not be enhanced by Photoshop, a tool which appears to have become mandatory in the industry.

When asked why she agreed to do the shoot, Emma Roberts told People:.

"I just loved the messaging behind it. I thought the whole idea was so inspiring. Yes, I'm an actress, but I'm also a real girl," she said. "Seeing [Photoshopped] ads, you get kind of bummed. You're like, 'Ugh, do these people really look like that?'"

The "Nancy Drew" star believes that girls in today's society shouldn't equate "real" with "flaws." She hopes that through the AerieREAL campaign, people will see beauty in authenticity.

Nonetheless, it does not mean that girls should be complacent when it comes to their health.

Emma Roberts admitted that she focused on her health upon finding out about the campaign.

"They gave me the date for the shoot, and it made me definitely work out more and be healthier and want to take care of myself more up until the shoot. And I think that change is gonna stick - it's been good for me."

While a lot of Emma Roberts news mostly portray her as a confident star, she is no exception when it comes to insecurities.

"I definitely have a complex about being pale because I've been made fun of my whole life, so I was nervous about that," Emma Roberts told People.

She confessed that she was a victim of body-shaming which made her resort to desperate measures.

"I would get spray tans, and I look back at those photos now, and I just think: Oh my goodness, you're orange. I would tell my younger self to stop spray-tanning so much. Just own it."
