'Monster Musume' Anime To Be Adapted Into PC Game

Harem/ecchi series' being adapted into video games is nothing new, but a series about monster girls is so bizarre the risk probably doesn't seem worth it.

But then again, there's something very charming about the cutesy half-human half-snake girl that leads the cast of "Monster Musume."

Recently it was announced that the "Monster Musume" anime series will soon be getting a PC game adaptation. The game, which is being produced by DMM Games, is slated to be released sometime this year. The announcement for the "Monster Musume" PC game coincided with the premiere episode of the anime series, which is being streamed outside of Japan by Crunchyroll.

So far, fans appear to be very excited at the prospect of the "Monster Musume" PC game. Specifically, they appear to be excited by the originality.

"I'm glad the series has enough originality in it to have actual original characters, rather than just leeching off the license," said BrainBlow in an ANN forum.

ANN reports that the game will feature players taking the role of the main character in the original story, where they will host monster girls as a part of the Cultural Exchange Between Species Act. It appears that "winning" the game requires building intimacy levels with the girls to trigger a "rewarding event."

"Monster Musume" was originally a manga series that ran in Okayado. Seven Seas Entertainment, which licensed the series outside of Japan, describes the story as follows:

"When a hapless human named Kurusu Kimihito is inducted as a "volunteer" into the government exchange program, his world is turned upside down. A snake-like lamia named Miia comes to live with him, and it is Kurusu's job to take care of her and make sure she integrates into his everyday life."

It goes on:

"Unfortunately for Kurusu, Miia is undeniably sexy, and the law against interspecies breeding is very strict. Even worse, when a ravishing centaur girl and a flirtatious harpy move in, what's a full-blooded young man with raging hormones to do?!"

"Monster Musume" began airing July 7.
