Ariana Grande's "I Hate America" issue might just be bigger than we thought, as updates claim that there is a possibility that she might be put in jail because of it.

According to New York Daily News, the owner of the donut shop where Ariana was caught licking the donuts and releasing a statement that was an insult to Americans and to the country, is hoping that she will charged with a criminal case.

"What she did was wrong," said Joe Marin, according to the source cited above.

As previously reported, a surveillance video was released via TMZ showing the "Break Free" singer licking one donut from a tray of freshly baked ones. Ariana was with her current boyfriend, back-up dancer Ricky Alvarez and some friends.

She has since released a public apology addressing the Arian Grande "I Hate America" incident. An excerpt from it read,

"I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American, and I've always made it clear that I love my country," she said. "What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the doughnuts, was taken out of context, and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words."

"As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole," she added, directing the issue towards the current obesity rate in America.

After she released her statement, numerous critics took it negatively. According to them, the fact that Grande tried to steer the issue away and directed it towards something that is remotely related made the situation worse for the singer. Alot of people agree on these sentiments.

The "I Hate America" issue by Ariana Grande has even caused her to cancel her much-awaited performance at the MLB All-Star Concert. According to The Daily Mail, singer Demi Lovato has replaced her for her slot and has already announced that she is excited to be performing at the show Ariana was supposedly a part of.
