TVXQ, New Record Maker: 160,000 Copies of 'TIME' Sold on Day of Release

TVXQ once again set a new record with the duo's sixth Japanese studio album TIME on the day of its release.

The album landed on the top of Oricon's daily chart as the album managed to sell over 160,000 copies on the first day. This is the highest daily sales record set among their studio album released in Japan after their debut in the market.

TVXQ's previous highest sale on the first day for a studio album was with TONE in 2011, which sold 105,484 copies.

The album was released in three versions each representing the past, present and future. Oricon revealed that total of 160,719 copies were sold on March 6, which is nearly four times that of the 45,814 copies sold by ONE OK ROCK in second place.

The highest record first day sales for an album in Japan was their compilation album Best Selection 2010, which sold 228,542 copies.

The duo that has been striving to be the best group out of Asia to the rest of the world seems to be on the right track. As they also shared during a Billboard interview, "We are planning to visit fans in various places around the world through our World Tour, so hope you guys are excited!"

Back in November it was announced the group will embark on their Five Dome Tour in Japan, being the first K-Pop artist and fourth foreign artist to do so after Bon Jovi (2003), Eagles (2004) and Billy Joel (2006). Even including Japanese artists they are the sixteenth team to do so.

The Five Dome Tour will start on April 27 at Saitama Super Arena continues to Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Sapporo and ending in Nagoya.
