Porn Is Now Banned In India, Home Of Kamatsura; Indian Netizens React To Government’s Decision
The land where Kamasutra came from is now banning porn. The Indian Government has finally began its campaign in banning 850 pornographic websites and Indian citizens are not very happy about it.
In a report by Huffington Post, YouPorn and Pornhub lead the list of websites banned in the country, along with torrent websites Kickass.to, where pornographic videos can be downloaded. Not only that, but citizens will also lose access to downloading Hollywood and Bollywood movies.
Telecom ministry spokesperson N.N. Kaul told HuffPost India confirmed that a total of 857 websites are now banned in the country.
"We have written to the ISPs (internet service providers) to restrict free and open access to 857 websites. This direction is based on the observations made by the honourable Supreme Court on 10 July and using section 79 (3b) of the IT Act read with Article 19 (2) of the Indian constitution," he said.
Once the news broke out, majority of Indian netizens reacted negatively to this news. But some managed to pull off a good laugh out of it as well.
According to Aria Thakur, it is a shame that India, the country that introduced Kamatsura to the world, is banning porn.
The land that gave the world Kamasutra has now banned porn. Oh the irony. #पोर्न_बैन

While here's an unusual reaction.
Bad move as it will only increase rape in India. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. #पोर्न_बैन — Saifur Rahman Mohsin (@SaifurMohsin) August 2, 2015
Here are more sentiments from Indian Netizens.
Our Government is more interested in moral policing than serving the country. You don't get to decide what can/can't we watch #PornBan
