Gwen Stefani and husband Gavin Rossdale have filed for divorce. The separation brings to an end the couple's 13-year marriage.

According to TMZ, Stefani, who is represented by her attorney Scott Weston, has cited "irreconcilable differences" in her divorce petition. She also seeks for her and Rossdale to have joint custody of their children - Kingston, nine, Zuma, six and Apollo, one.

Rossdale, who is represented by Laura Wasser, likewise filed his response at about the same time and is also asking for joint custody.

TMZ said the petition and response seem orchestrated to be filed simultaneously.

Sources told TMZ that Stefani and Rossdale didn't draw up a prenup when they were wed, hence, the 50/50 California community property law would apply to them.

Apparently, "The Voice" coach has a net worth of $80 million while her soon-to-be-ex has a net worth estimated at $35 million. Because of the length of their marriage, each one's estimated worth would go into one pot before the state divides it.

"While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," the couple said in a statement, which E! News obtained. "To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time."

Gwen Stefani purportedly ticked the box to terminate her husband's ability for spousal support.

Tabloids began speculating that the couple's marriage was on the rocks last year, but Rossdale was quick to slam the reports, calling those a "load of bulls-t".

However, sources close to the couple said that time spent apart may have been one of the catalysts for the divorce.

Just recently, Stefani shared photos from her mini getaway to Montana with her sons. It's unclear whether Rossdale was with them, but Instagram posts made by the Bush front man indicated that he was in London at the time.
