McDonald's B-Boy Royale Returns To New York City On August 22

The McDonald's B-Boy Royale will return to the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts on August 22. In its second year, the event will feature eight East Coast b-boy dance crews, who will battle for a $5000 prize and bragging rights.

McDonald's B-Boy Royale II will be hosted by critically-acclaimed rapper MC Jin.  MC Jin was the first solo rapper of East Asian and Hong Kong decent to be signed to a major record label. He has worked with hip-hop luminaries including one of the early founders of rap, DJ Kool Herc. MC Jin contributed to several "Fast and the Furious" soundtracks and was featured on the "Ruff Ryders" compilations. In addition to work within the American rap scene, he received acclaim for his contributions to Hong Kong and Chinese hip-hop.

"I'm honored to be hosting and performing at this year's McDonald's B-Boy Royale," said Jin, in a statement issued by the event organizers. "It's great to see McDonald's supporting the local b-boy scene and developing this competition into something unique in the world of breaking."

The evening will also be hosted by former MTV VJ Grace Subervi. Subervi recently hosted the red carpet at KCON LA and can be seen on DramaFever, where she has hosted several programs, including their recent fan event with actor Kim Woo Bin. She delivers a unique perspective to coverage of Korean and Asian entertainment.

In addition to the competition, the McDonald's B-Boy Royale II will honor pioneers and innovators within the b-boy movement. Original Rock Steady Crew member and current president, Richard "Crazy Legs" Colón, will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Eight crews will compete during the B-Boy Royale including 5 Crew Dynasty, Beast Coast, Dynamic Rockers, Lionz of Zion, Silverback Young Bloods, Supreme Beingz, Team Entree and Titanz.
