Julianne Hough is engaged! After dating boyfriend Brooks Laich since December 2013, the Washington Capitals hockey player decided it was time to put a ring on it. Meanwhile, the "Dancing with the Stars" judge's ex boyfriend Ryan Seacrest was spending quality time with his sister - and didn't mention the engagement on his radio talk show. Did you know Julianne Hough once alluded that in another universe, she would have married Ryan Seacrest?

According to E! Online, the "Dancing With the Stars" judge and two-time "Dancing With the Stars" champion announced the engagement news via Instagram Tuesday. "We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiancé #love," Hough wrote. Laich shared the exact same photo and caption on his own Instagram account.

Hough, 27, was previously engaged before Laich, 32. Until 2007, she was planning to marry dancer Zach Wilson.

But many will remember the publicized relationship between Julianne and ex boyfriend Ryan Seacrest. In fact, Hough even revealed to Redbook that though Laich is The One, Seacrest may have had a chance down the aisle with her if things had turned out differently.

"Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right. I had one foot out because I didn't want to get hurt," she said last year. "And I didn't say what was on my mind because I didn't want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect. Now I'm not holding anything back because I'd rather get my heart broken than never know what it is to be completely, madly in love. If I had been this open in my last relationship [with Ryan Seacrest], who knows?"

Hough added, "We've been open and honest from day one."

Meanwhile, Us Weekly reports that moments after Hough shared the photo from her proposal, Seacrest posted his own snap from his weekend. He stopped by TOMS' headquarters in Venice Beach, Calif., with his younger sister Meredith.

"Dropped by @toms w my sister @mereseacrest over the weekend," Seacrest captioned the photo.

In it, he's holding a tiny shoe in his hand. "(Finally found a pair of shoes in my size)," he joked. "So inspired everytime I hear what these guys are doing. Good ppl trying to make a better world."

Around the time of his Instagram post, Seacrest was hosting his radio program, On Air With Ryan Seacrest, with guest Wilmer Valderrama. Seacrest made no mention of his ex girlfriend's engagement.
