Terrence Howard is currently under hot water for claims against him by his ex-wife Michelle Ghent.

In an article published by Entertainment Tonight Online, the actor finally spoke up about the issue and claims that he is deeply sad that this whole process has gone as public as it went. 

According to the source cited above, the 46-year-old actor said that the laws should be protected.

"Sad that this has to be on a public forum," he said, explaining that the law is not a criminal, but instead is a family law, something that should be made private. "It's a family law, it should be family law, it should be protected."

"To have your personal life exposed between family and shared with the public, I think is a violation of our privacy, and of our constitutional rights," the "Empire" star added. "It needs to be reformed."

To add to the report, Terrence Howard was previously reported to have broken down in tears after he spoke in court about how his ex-wife Michelle Ghent threatened to release some really personal material that could greatly damage his reputation and his career.

"I was terrified of her releasing the private tapes," he previously said, as cited by the source above as well.

As to why the actor still stayed with Michelle despite the threats made against him, he said that it's because of the fact that he still loved her and that he thought Ghent was just making the threats out of anger. "I loved her," he said. "I thought she had perhaps made the threats out of anger."

In another previous interview with the source, Howard has denied the claims made agains him, accusing him of domestic violence.

"I just wish the best for her," he previously said about his ex-wife. "But as far as me harming somebody... I really can't harm a fly. It's completely against my spirit, but I'm so heartbroken, that you can see that doing it on a night like this is only for an attempt to try and hurt me."
