'Cities Skylines: After Dark' Release Date Announced, What Happens In The City At Night?

“Cities Skylines: After Dark” gets an official release date.

Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive have announced the release date for Cities Skylines: After Dark. This is the first expansion of the city building game, as reported by IGN.

“Cities: Skylines” was initially seen as the competitor against another city-building game “Sim City.” It is a single-player open-ended game where players get into urban planning, taxation, public services, and the like. Apart from building amazing cities, players have to work hard to also maintain the city’s population, happiness, pollution, health, traffic, and so many other factors.

According to Eurogamer, the new expansion will give the game day-and-night cycles, plus new nighttime features in “After Dark.”

There will be a whole new world to discover and play with when the city functions in the evening. Quieter roads mean that service vehicles can be sent around, crime with increase, police nighttime duty is more active, plus there will be a nighttime budget for the new expansion features.

The official forum explained more of what is to come in “After Dark.” The announcement explained, “While the change from day to night is visually stunning, there’s much more going on under the hood. Each and every building in the game received a new texture layer to have the windows light up nicely.

“In addition there are new lighted signs, neon signs and other lights to make the city look interesting during the night. The sun rises and sets, painting the sky with bright colours, you can see the moon and stars move across the night sky.”

Other additions that are included in the upcoming expansion are prisons, taxis, beachfront properties, bike lanes and more.

The “City Skylines: After Dark” release date is on Sept. 24, 2015 for Mac, PC and Linux. For those interested in purchasing the expansion for their games, it will cost $14.99.
