Los Angeles Lakers News: Kobe Bryant & Shaquille O’Neal Mend Fences; Disagreements Long Forgotten

Perhaps one of the best legendary duos of all time, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal are finally shrugging off all the misunderstandings during their time as teammates in the early 2000s.

It is worth noting that the duo won three straight titles during 2000, 2001, 2002 but was not able to go for four straight after bowing out to the San Antonio Spurs in the second round the next year. Also, they were not able to reclaim the title after losing to the Detroit Pistons in the NBA Finals.

Due to this, both players began pointing fingers that caused rifts in the organization and to their relationship. But, fast forward to 2015, the two veterans are regretting their actions from more than 10 years ago and wish they could have just handled the situation much better.

Shaquille O'Neal spoke with Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times and he said that he is not mad at Kobe Bryant.

"I just want people to know that I don't hate you, I know you don't hate me. I call it today a 'work beef,' is what we had," O'Neil said. "I was young, you were young. But then as I look at it, we won three [championships] out of four so I don't really think a lot was done wrong."

"So I just wanted to clear the air and let everybody know that, no, I don't hate you. We had a lot of disagreements, we had a lot of arguments. But I think it fueled us both."

Kobe shares the same sentiments and he is proud to say that time made him grow wiser and admit that his actions from a decade ago is truly regretful.

"When you say it at the time, you actually mean it," Bryant said. "And then when you get older, you have more perspective, you're like, 'Holy... I was an idiot as a kid.' To me, the most important thing is you keep your mouth shut. There's no need to go to the press. You keep it internal."

"We have our arguments and our disagreements. But I think... having our debates within the press was something I wished would been avoided."
