Jordan Clarkson Gilas News: LA Lakers Guard Commits To The Philippines!

Filipino fans can't be happier with the imminent addition of LA Lakers budding star Jordan Clakson to their national squad.

In a report by Spin.ph, the budding star from the LA Lakers committed to SBP officials Ricky Vargas and Pato Gregorio that he is all in with the Gilas Pilipinas Squad and sees himself playing with the team for the years to come.

"Those were his words, he's all in," said Vargas. "This is not a one-shot deal. He's not looking at this as a short-term thing."

"He was telling us that he wants to play for the Philippines in the 2016, 2020 and 2024 Olympics," said Vargas. "And he has a clear vision what he wants to see with the Philippine team."

Gregorio added: 'Imagine a 23-year-old telling us about his clear vision for the Philippine team."

Also, it looks like all the hurdles are beginning to be cleared out since a few weeks ago, Clarkson's father, Michael, said that he don't want his son to play for the Gilas Pilipinas squad as he does not want to put his son's career in jeopardy.

It is worth noting that Jordan made a lot of noise in his rookie year by winning All-Rookie 2nd team honors. That says a lot to his level of talent and what the Gilas squad will be getting from Clarkson.

"Our talk with the father is to reassure him that, from the time that he (Jordan) has not signed the contract to the time that he does, and if he gets injured while with Gilas, we will assure them that during period that he will be properly taken cared of," Vargas disclosing what the SBP and Clarkson's side had discussed via a report from Inquirer.net.

For fans that aren't quite familiar with Clarkson's game, here's something to get excited about once he dons a Gilas Pilipinas uniform.
