Dallas Mavericks News: Deron Williams Will Be Everything Rajon Rondo Wasn't

The Dallas Mavericks got themselves another elite point guard during the off-season in Deron Williams and the acquisition looks to be the brighter days for the team after the failed Rajon Rondo experiment.

Williams was waived by the Brooklyn Nets during this off-season and the Dallas Mavericks immediately inquired for his services and successfully landing him as well.

In a report by Reid Hanson of SportDFW, Deron Williams will be everything that Rajon Rondo was not for the Dallas Mavericks.

"Today, the Mavericks can relish in the fact they signed a 31 year old former All-Star for a very cheap deal. He is both motivated, and physically able (two things Rajon Rondo was not) to play the game with the best of them."

Hanson also added that William's style of play is perfect for head coach Rick Carlisle style of coaching and his all-around game will tremendously help the Mavericks compete in the brutally competitive Western Conference.

"Deron Williams actually fits Rick Carlisle's scheme quite well. Williams, a proficient 3-point shooter, is perfect for the Mavericks' pick-and-pop and pick-and-roll offense. His shooting ability will help space the floor and carry the scoring load as the Mavericks patiently wait for Wesley Mathews and Chandler Parsons to regain form."

As fans can remember, Rajon Rondo failed miserably as the Mavs' court general last season. Not only did he underperform for the Dallas Mavericks during the regular season, but he quit on the team on their first-round match-up against the Houston Rockets in the recently concluded 2015 NBA Playoffs.

Rondo is now getting his second chance with the Sacramento Kings. Williams, meanwhile, will try to reinvigorate his deteriorating career with the Dallas Mavericks and with the work ethic he is putting up, it is very likely that he will be a valuable contributor to the squad.
